Borno Governor asks Buratai to strengthen the capacity of our CJTF, Vigilante, hunters against Boko Haram

 The Borno state Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum has called on the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai to strengthened the capacity of the local hunters and vigilante and Civilian JTF to help in safeguarding local communities against Boko Haram insurgents.
According to Prof. Zulum, the army personale  cannot be everywhere in Borno State as they have been overwhelmed with other security challenges in other parts of the country like Zamafara, Katsina etc.

Gov. Zulum who made the call when the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) paid him a courtesy call at the Government House Maiduguri.on Monday said “” the Borno state is ready to spend its last kobo to partner with the Nigerian Army to strengthen our Civilian JTF, vigilantes and local hunters to safeguard our communities”.

While lamenting the slow recovery process of the post insurgence program, the governor vowed to expend his last penny to partner with the military to ensure the speedy economic recovery of the displaced population of his state.
“Over 80 percent of our people are farmers and don’t have access to their farmlands. The military should work out plan to ensure that our famers have not only have accesses to their farms during farming season and post harvest time. You should also open up our roads for the movement of goods and persons.”

Prof. Zulum also told  COAS to ensure that the local population are allow to engage in their livelihood business of   fish and cattle trading to boast the local economy.
The Nation recall that the Baga fish market has been closed by the military  for several years due to the Boko Haram activities.

on the issue of youth restiveness and unemployment, Gov. Zulum said;  “the Borno state government is working hard to address the issue of youth unemployment, food security, and illiteracy as for us to succeed we have address the root cause of insurgency, which is illiteracy, unemployment and food security.

”WE  have to critically examined the Lexis of peace, security and development and draw a post insurgency stabilization plan to end Boko Haram insurgency in the Northeast. We need your support and collaboration to achieve that,” Prof. Zulum added.

Prof. Zulum who also  appreciated  the military for liberating Borno from insurgents, equally  sympathize  with the military and the families of those who paid supreme price in safeguarding their nation.

He  added  that;  “ in the last four years many parts of the state where occupied by the insurgents and only one roads was accessible but today courtesy of the military all areas have been librated and roads are now opened to  ensure speedy economic recovery of the Boko Haram crisis in the  Northeast region”.

The Chief of Atrmy Staff (COAS) Lt. General Tukur Buratai, earlier informed the governor that  the military has already worked out a post insurgency stabilization plan to ensure the safety of both military and civilian population, stressing that,  “very soon there will be a drastic reduction in Boko Haram activities in the Northeast.
 “We have worked out post insurgency stabilization plan for the Northeast. We are going to operate differently from what we have been doing before in the counter Insurgency war, we are going facilitate the smooth returning of IDPs, worked out plans to ensure their safety as they go back and open access roads for the movement of people and goods”, Gen. Buratai explained .

He tasked the civilian population to understand that their support for counter Insurgency is very key by providing credible and useful information.
