FUGA: council denies sacking VC, passes vote of confidence on him

The Governing Council of Federal University Gashua (FUGA),  Yobe state has denied as false  report tha the Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Professor Andrew Haruna has been removed from office.
In a  statement released by the Acting Registrar to the Council, A. B Shehu  and obtained by our correspondent on Monday re-affirms the position of Prof. Andrew as the Vice Chancellor of the Institution, just as it described the release as “fake”.
 “The Governing Council wishes to state that information contained in the document is unfounded, baseless, mischievous, malicious and concocted to breed disharmony between members of the Management of the University.
“It has never met at any date to discuss any matter as contained in the fake release. No petition of any report that may require such severe punishment has been presented to council at anytime. 
“There are written procedure on the appointment and removal of a Vice Chancellor
and it is only the visitor that can remove a Vice Chancellor,”, the statement reads.
“The university council further passed a vote of confidence on the Vice Chancellor and his his management team, adding that; In fact, the Governing Council is satisfied with the performance of the Vice Chancellor and his management as  he has diligently been performing his official duties. Therefore, council distances itself from the content of the circulation and request the general public to disregard the said document.
“The council also calls on management of the University Community to disregard the fake news and go about their duties without any sense of distraction caused by the said document”.
Impactonline  findings revealed that Prof. Haruna has been having a running battle with a section of the university host community. some of them have written various petitions against him alleging bias in employment and award of contracts in the institution.
