 The Deputy Country Director of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Mrs Caroline Jehu-Appiah  has advised that for Yobe to sustain her gains on the Routine Immunization, the Governor has to release more funds to Local Government Chairmen, traditional Leaders and Community Leaders.
According to her, such step will ensure an effective mobilization and  strengthen a  primary healthcare in the state  that will consolidate on the already gains attained by the state government.

Mrs. Appiah who was on a courtesy visit to the governor in Abuja at the State Government Lodge in company of the the Foundation’s Lead on Immunization, Mr. Yusuf Yusufari and the Lead on Agriculture, Dr. Audu Grema, both son of the state expressed happiness over the progress Yobe has made in the primary health sector particularly in Routine Immunization(RI) as "the most improved state" in that regard
In his remarks, Gov. Mai Mala  Buni, commended  the effort of the Foundation to ending  the occurrence of the Wild Polio Virus in the country and tackle other child-killer diseases.
 The governor pledged that  Yobe State Government will meet all her  counterpart funding obligations and even  double up  on its collaboration to ensure that primary healthcare delivery in the state is strengthened and expanded to the ordinary person in the state.

“In my inaugural address, I have reiterated my desire to prioritize healthcare, specifically primary health care and I have a vision to establish a functional PHC in all of the176 wards in the state. Our administration is an administration of continuity and consolidation; therefore, we are going to do even more to triple or quadruple the extent of our collaboration with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation”, Gov. Buni said.

As part of his vision to end unemployment among youth in the state, Governor Buni also requested the Foundation's expertise for partnership in agriculture.

“Agriculture is a force-multiplier. It is an area that has the greatest prospect for improving our economy and creating jobs for our people. Our intention is to use agriculture to empower our youths by helping them to cultivate and become self-reliant”, he  said.

As a direct response to the governor on agriculture, Dr. Audu Grema The Foundation’s Lead on Agriculture,  said that the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is keen to partner Yobe in agriculture, especially in rice production.
ImpactOnline reports that Bill & Melinda Gates and Dangote Foundation have invested millions of naira in health care delivery and infrastructural construction particularly in communities that were destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents.
