A Street Gate near the General Sani Abatcha Specialist Hospital close to the roundabout at Gujba road in Damaturu, Yobe State  is half pulled down and dangling in the air even as residents continue to ply under the gates.

ImpactonlineNigeria investigation discovered that the gate was almost pulled down by an over-loaded trailer that decided to pass through the gate but couldn’t go through as a result of the load and the height of the trailer.

Our correspondent reports that Yobe State Government constructed the street gates to prevent height duty vehicles from coming into the city centre. The gates are also meant to divert traffic to the town ring-road to connect the major exit routes from and within Damaturu town.

The Yobe State Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Alhaji Yusuf Isa has called on the authorities concern to without delay fix the gate to avert  an impending  tragedy at the place.

The photos of the dangling gates have also gone viral on the social media within the state with many people calling for immediate action against the issue.

"We are not aware of the situation but thank you for this information. i will call the town engineer now to go to the palce and assess the situation for immediate action," Engr. Usman said.

Our correspondent has also observed that even the street gate near the August 27 Stadium has for several times came under the same fate following the illegal actions of the trailer drivers who frantically try to make their way through the city centre instead of using  the byepass.
