THE All Progressive Congress, Yobe State chapter has said, Gov. Mai Mala has started on a good note that will transform the state to lofty heights.
The State Secretary of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Bakabe at a press briefing with journalists in Damaturu said, “ the ruling APC in Yobe State  is glad to state with all sense of fulfillment the political will of the Governor Mai Mala Buni administration in repositioning the state with short, intermediate and long term policy measures for the state to achieve greatness,” Bakabe said.
The party also took time to field questions from journalists explaining why, the Governor has not formed his cabinet despite clocking one hundred days in the office, stressing that, the governor does not want to make mistake in the composition of his cabinet but rather taking his time to constitute the best cabinet”.
Alhaji Bakabe also denied allegations that, the Governor is under pressure from his former boss, Sen. Ibrahim Gaidam to retain most of his former cabinet members.
“What I am telling you is from the grapevine, the governor is not under any pressure for the former governor, Ibrahim Gaidam. What is delaying the formation of the cabinet is not connected to such allegations at all.
“Our governor, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni is committed to choosing the best team as a cabinet that will help him actualize his dreams and vision for the development of our dear state Yobe. Those allegations are baseless. This is the truth about the situation and Isha Allah, our governor will soon submit the list of his cabinet. But you will agree with me that about eighteen governors have also not constituted their cabinet so we are stiil in tune,” Bakabe explained.
The Yobe State APC leadership noted with satisfaction that, “From inauguration, Gov. Mai Mala Buni, had unambiguously identified his priority areas which rightly captures the needs of the state and minds of the people,” just as the also notes with excitement, “the measures of implementation taken by the government for the accomplishment of these policies, programs and projects to improve the lives of the people”.

Some of the areas the party scored the governor high include the declaration of Emergency on education, which the party noted is a demonstration of the governor’s passion to revive and reverse the educational woes of the state and reposition it from an educationally disadvantage state to that of a less educationally disadvantage state.

“In an effort to actualize the emergency declared on education, government had in the last 100 days, organized the first ever education summit and thereafter, constituted a committee of erudite scholars, seasoned education administrators and prominent intellectuals to develop a roadmap for government to achieve the goal of repositioning primary and secondary education.

“As the ruling political party in the state, we are glad with the political will exhibited by the Buni administration in the constitution and support given to the committee to have successfully completed its assignment with high sense of commitment within a very short period of time. We are equally proud to see the vibrant Governor commencing the implementation of the recommendations made by the committee.

“Similarly, the under graduate and post graduate foreign studies scholarship scheme introduced by the Buni administration would accelerate the manpower needs in critical areas across the state.
Already, the committee has also submitted its report and the governor has approved 228 slots for studies in Medicine, paramedics, agriculture and engineering.

“We are confident that these measures taken by this administration will provide a sustainable educational development program for the state to bridge the existing gaps and move up from the bottom of the ladder of educational development”, Bakabe said.
He also commended the governor for the building of the Potiskum Truck Transit Park which is going to produce 5000 direct jobs to the youths in the state, as well as the 3,600 houses under construction in the state.

PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS ON 100 DAYS OF THE ADMINISTRATION OF HON. MAI MALA BUNI .

I am delighted to address you today in commemoration of this auspicious occasion marking the 100 days in office of His Excellency, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, the Executive Governor of Yobe State.

The 100 days in office in the life of administrations in Nigeria has become a tradition where government look back to see the steps taken to actualize its set targets and campaign promises to meet the expectations of the electorates and, the ruling political party on whose platform the government was formed.

In Yobe state, the ruling APC is glad to state with all sense of fulfillment the political will of the Governor Mai Mala Buni administration in repositioning the state with short, intermediate and long term policy measures for the state to achieve greatness.

From inauguration, Gov. Mai Mala Buni, had unambiguously identified his priority areas which rightly captures the needs of the state and minds of the people. The party notes with satisfaction the measures of implementation taken by the government for the accomplishment of these policies, programs and projects to improve the lives of the people.

Permit me to highlight some of the major policies, programs and projects of the 100 days in office of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration.

Education.

You will recall that minutes after His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni was inaugurated as the governor of Yobe State, he left no one in doubt that he has plans to reposition education in the state. Hence, his famous declaration of State of Emergency on Primary and Secondary education in the state. His passion to move the state from an educationally disadvantaged state to an educationally prosperous state was quite visible and unambiguous .

In an effort to actualize the emergency declared on education, government had in the last 100 days, organized the first ever education summit and thereafter, constituted a committee of erudite scholars, seasoned education administrators and prominent intellectuals to develop a roadmap for government to achieve the goal of repositioning primary and secondary education.

As the ruling political party in the state, we are glad with the political will exhibited by the Buni administration in the constitution and support given to the committee to have successfully completed its assignment with high sense of commitment within a very short period of time. We are equally proud to see the vibrant Governor commencing the implementation of the recommendations made by the committee.

Similarly, the under graduate and post graduate foreign studies scholarship scheme introduced by the Buni administration would accelerate the manpower needs in critical areas across the state.
Already, the committee has also submitted its report and the governor has approved 228 slots for studies in Medicine, paramedics, agriculture and engineering.

We are confident that these measures taken by this administration will provide a sustainable educational development program for the state to bridge the existing gaps and move up from the bottom of the ladder of educational development.

Employment and Wealth creation :

It is with sense of gratitude that this administration had in the last 100 days released the sum of over N80.4 million for the resuscitation of the Yobe Flour and Feed mills Potiskum to resume production and create employment opportunities for our teeming youths as well as, to improve internal revenue generation to the state.

The state Government also approved and released the sum of over N94.9 million for renovation of the state owned aluminum factory, supply of machines, raw materials and generating sets. These have been supplied, installed and ready for use.

It is obvious that the resuscitation of the aluminum factory would create a chain value where government would patronize the company to supply roofing materials to the proposed 3,600 housing units and modern markets to create more employment and generate more revenue.

Road Construction

In the spirit of Continuity and Consolidation, the Buni administration has commenced construction of township roads and drainages in Buni Yadi Gujba local government , Jaji Maji, Karasuwa local government and Babangida the headquarters of Tarmuwa local government.

As you are aware, the governor had in his inaugural speech, pledge to build more inter and intra township roads to open up more communities for socio economic growth. The party greatly associates itself with this development as we are optimistic this will be of immense benefit to the people.

Potiskum Trailer Park and Mechanic Village.

As you are aware Yobe State government in partnership with the Nigeria Shippers Council have commenced the construction of a modern Trailer Transit camp in Potiskum with a capacity to create 5,000 direct employment and boost revenue drive.

Government has pledged to provide water, electricity and road linking the camp to the federal highway as measures to create friendly business environment .The camp will have a fuel service station, hotel accommodation, mechanic workshop, clinic and a training center. The project will no doubt to create more employment opportunities and spur the economy.

The APC heartily identify with His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni for the wise choice of this people oriented project that would provide our unemployed youth will employment opportunities. We are indeed fulfilled.

Housing Projects
As you are also aware, the state government under the able leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni has signed a Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) for the construction of 3,600 housing units in Damaturu, Potiskum, Gashua, Machina, Buni Yadi, Giedam and Damagum.

This is no doubt the massive housing project ever recorded in the life of our dear state. The projects which are slated for completion within 18 months would address the problem of shortage of descent accommodation in the major towns of the state.

Construction of Markets-

The need for conducive atmosphere to propel the economy cannot be over emphasized. All the major towns in Yobe State, including Damaturu, the state capital lacked modern, spacious and the favorable environment to accommodate increased volume of trade for enhanced commercial activities to boost the economy. After 28 years of creation, most of the markets still operate in grossly inadequate makeshifts. This has no doubt slowed the economic progression of the state. Therefore, the declaration by His Excellency to build modern markets in Damaturu, Potiskum, Buni Yadi, Geidam, Gashua, Nguru and Ngalda would certainly improve the volume of trade, economy, job creation and revenue drive for the state.

The transparent commitment of this administration to the development of the state, has attracted members of other political parties to appreciate and openly identify with the APC led administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni.

This therefore gives us more courage that this administration would fulfill its campaign promises to improve the lives of the people.

The party wish to reiterate its support and cooperation to His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni and called on every member of the party to remain steadfast and support the administration.

The party heartily congratulates the Governor, government and people of Yobe State for a peaceful and prosperous 100 days of the Governor Mai Mala administration.

Thank you.
