Comrade Abba Isa in an open letter sent to the coordinator and made available to journalists in Damaturu said his people will not congratulate the SDGs coordinator in the state until they see clearly that he has set up effective mechanisms in place for disability inclusion in the state.
The UN Vision 2030 is all about "People, Inclusion, Protection, Planet, environment and "leave No Persons with Disabilities Behind ".
Comrade Abba Isa while reminding the SDGs Coordinator of his huge task ahead called on him to deliver the inclusion of the disabled people in the state within 100 days of his assumption of office.
Below is the full text of the letter
ATTN: The State Coordinator of Sustainable Development Goals SDG Yobe State.
I am the member of High Level Political Forum UN HLPF 2030 Agenda representing Persons with disabilities in voluntary review report that assisted the UN members of High Level Political Forum HLPF in first progress report on disability inclusion in the context of the 2030 Agenda. HLPF is a platform that review the Progress report of vision 2030 all over the world.
I urged you to Implement the report based on global practices and inline with the linkages between Sustainable development goals SDGs and United Nation Convention for rights of Persons with disabilities UNCRPD. There is 7 explicit references to Persons with disabilities in Sustainable development goals.
Vision 2030 Agenda can't be achieved without removing barriers and empower persons with disabilities to make positive changes in their lives and communities.
We will not congratulate you for this Inclusive role appointment until you implement the recommendations of the first report on progress on disability inclusion in the context of the 2030 Agenda. Vision 2030 is all about People, Inclusion, Protection, Planet, environment and "leave No Persons with Disabilities Behind "
1. Establishment of Desk office or focal person on SDG to Persons with disabilities.
2. Design social protection policies and programmes to include persons with disabilities.
3. Remove barriers and obstacles that persons with disabilities face in accessing and fully benefiting from social protection on an equal basis with others.
4. Sensitize personnel of grant offices about barriers experienced by persons with disabilities to access social protection and approaches to overcome these barriers.
5.. Improve access to and accessibility of banking and other financial services, including mobile banking.
6. Disaggregate data on poverty and hunger by disability status.
7. Establish State monitoring and evaluation systems that periodically assess all social protection
8..programmes regarding inclusion and positive impact on the situation of persons with disabilities.
Mr Coordinator SDG Yobe State, Musa Suleh Damagum this is part of your role and i expect you to deliver Within 100 days in your office so that you can make the administration of Hon Mai Mala Buni proud in the eyes of the world and in line with his inaugural speech that stated " we are going to run in all inclusive government" according to the MASTER OF INCLUSION.
Lastly May Allah guide you to implement and champion the course of sustainable development goals. Amen
