A strong windstorm yesterday destroyed the multi-billion Naira street lights contract along Gujba road in Damaturu, Yobe State capital. The project which is one of Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam's last minutes contracts awarded at the tail end of his administration. Our correspondent who monitored the level of destruction observed that a sizeable number of the poles that fell down have been mounted with the power battery and the solar panel which apparently brought a heavy weight on the poles that could not withstand the strong winds.
