Yobe sets to flag off two iconic projects as Gov. Buni marks 100 days in office

All is now set for the ground-breaking foundation laying ceremonies of two iconic projects to mark the 100 days of Gov. Mai Mala Buni in office as governor of Yobe State.

While the governor is expected to perform the ground breaking foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of the Potiskum Trailer Park and Mechanics's Village in Potiskum Town tomorrow Wednesday, September 4th, 2019 and the  the resuscitation of the Potiskum Flour and Feed Mills and the Potiskum Aluminium Company, the governor is expected back to Damaturu, the following day to perform yet another impacting project which will be the foundation ceremony of the 3600 Housing units in the state.

The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Lands and Housing, Alhaji Dauda M. Gwayo while on inspection to ensure the smooth ceremony of the event told ImpactOnlineNigeria at the site of the 250 unit Houses along Gujba Road that everything has been put in place for the ceremony to be hitch free.

the Permanent Secretary in compnay of some of his directors in the ministry took time to inspect the labourers who have already evacuated the foundation of some of the houses to be built.

He informed that government has already started compiling the list of people that owned plots of land of the 50 hectres areas for compensation.

He noted that some of the land owners are not in Damaturu and will therefore have to be contacted appropriately so as to make the process transparent.

He praised the efforts of the governor for securing such a gigantice project especially in Housing which he noted is one of the major needs of man.

ImpactOnlineNigeria reports that The Yobe State Government and Family Homes Funds Ltd, a housing finance company, have signed an agreement to construct 3600 housing units across the State, as part of Gov. Mai Mala Buni administration's policy to provide affordable housing to the people.
The houses, comprising two-bedroom and three-bedroom bungalows, will be built at the total cost of N10, 830, 339, 654.00 with an envisaged completion period of 18 months.

The agreement was signed penultimate week  at the Yobe Governor's Lodge, Asokoro Abuja. Solicitor-General at the State Ministry of Justice, Hajiya Hadiza Ibrahim Alkali signed on behalf of the State Government while the Managing Director, Family Homes Funds Ltd, Mr Femi Adewole signed on behalf of his organisation.

Speaking shortly after the agreement was signed, Governor Buni noted that the move reflects the policy of his administration to "provide quality and affordable housing to the people of our state".

"In line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we believe that affordable housing is a key marker of social progress. When people have comfortable accommodation, they are more likely to have the right frame of mind to engage in meaningful socio-economic activities", he said.

The governor explained that the houses will be built in different parts of the state so that all parts of the state could benefit from them.

"Accordingly, we will build 500 units in Yobe Zone A with Gaidam and Buni-Yadi Towns each having 250 units. In Zone B, we will construct 250 units in Potiskum and 200 units in Damagum Town of Fune Local Government area. In Zone C, we will cite the houses in Gashu’a Town with 250 units, Nguru with 200 units and Machina with 150 units.

"The State Capital, Damaturu will have 1000 units of the houses. Of this number, 500 will be cited along Potiskum road, 250 along Maiduguri road and the remaining 250 units along Gujba road", he said.

ImpactOnlineNigeria also gathered that an additional 1000 houses was added to the agreement making it 3600 from the initial 2600 which will now cover all the seventeen local government in the state.
