Yobe State government has commenced another phase of measles campaign to strem up the recent outbreak of the diseases in the that.

ImpactOnlineNigeria gathered that the state is faced with serious challenges of non-compliance in 12 Local Government Area out of the 17 LGAs representing more than 70% of noncompliance LGAs in the state.
The State Health Promotion Manager with the Primary Health Management Agency, Mohammed Kado Abubakar disclosed this at a media parley with journalists in Damaturu.
According to him, the state is currently experiencing measles outbreak in 12 LGAs of Fika, Fune, Damature, Gujba, Gulani, Yunusari, Yusufari, Geidam, Bursari, Nguru, Jakusko, Karasuwa.
The outbreak he noted is not pronounced but the state has to put up some proactive measures to avoid escalation of the outbreak into other communities in the state.
“Gentlemen, If you noticed carefully, the measles campaign and vaccination will be carried out in 12 LGAs across the state. What is significant to note here is that these LGAs are the one we are experiencing non-compliance from.
“Another issue is that, there is an outbreak but it’s not pronounced across the community because in some of the LGA, we will shall be carrying out the advocacy and sensitisation to one political ward while in some LGAs two or three. But the issue is that, the state government wants to be proactive about this outbreak so that it does not spread to other communities in the state, “ Gado said.
He also solicit the support of journalists for the dissemination of information during the campaign.
He informed that the campaign will begin on Wednesday, 7th June 2020 and last for three days.
Journalists at the meeting also made some commitment to write news stories and features articles to educate the people more on the need for the success of the campaign.
