Isa Mai Buba Mashio after regaining his freedom today

…more facts of his rescue emerge

The village Head of Mashio, Alhaji Isa Mai Buba who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen said his captors did not maltreat him, nor spoke with him throughout the traumatic hours he spent with them in the bush.

The District Head who spoke with our correspondent in Damaturu after he was rescued said he has taken his abduction as an act of Allah, stressing that he cannot remember having any quarrel with anybody to warrant an abduction.

According to him, the kidnappers were wondering with him in the bush throughout the night until he was rescued on the morning of Tuesday.

“They did not touch me or do anything to me. They were just wondering with me in the bush. They are 7 of them.

“I don’t known who I have offended. This thing comes from Allah and I take it that way. They were speaking Fulani and Hausa.

“This has never happened in Mashio and I pray this will be the last,” Mai Buba said.

Meanwhile, some facts have emerged on how the District Head was rescued.

Information further obtained by our correspondent indicate that the traditional ruler was rescued by a combined rescue operation by the Army, Vigilante and volunteer hunters.

Mai Buba being examined at the military facility in Damaturu after rescued

Investigation revealed that some military personale who carried out the operations were angry with the police for running fast to take credit over the rescued of the District Head.

One of the officers who called our correspondent in reaction to the story credited to police said his men actually did the operation without a single policeman on sight but wondered why the police will come out with a statement claiming to have rescued the victim.

Finding revealed that, the victim was actually rescued at about 5.20 am today by troops of sector 2 of Operation Lafiya Dole in conjunction with some elements of Civilian JTF and other volunteers led by one Lt. Col. AM Abdu who combed the general areas of Ngelzarma-Mashio Forest, Doshuo,Gelfataji,KalaLawal etc.

It was also gathered that the victim was examined at the military medical facility in Damaturu rather instead of the police claim of Yobe State University  Teaching Hospital , Damaturu.
