Yobe signs contract for digitization of state own media houses

Yobe State government today signed a contract agreement with two firms for the digitization and globalization of the State owned Media Houses, the Yobe Broadcasting Corporation(YBC) and Yobe State Television(YTV).

 

The agreements were signed by the Hon. Commission for Information, Home Affairs and Culture, Hon. Abdullahi Bego on behalf of the State government while the representatives of the two companies; Tiggen Technology Nigeria Limited and Elroth Global Resources and Enterprising  signed on behalf of their companies.

 

The contract agreement will see the purchase, supply and installation of modern equipment at the two broadcast stations and another contract included the repairs of a burnt studio at YBC which caught fire precisely on the night of June 17th, 2020.

 

 

In his remarks after the signing ceremony, Hon. Abdullahi Bego charged the contractors to work on the timely execution of the contracts with strict compliance with all contractual agreement including specifications.

 

He noted that, Gov. Mai Mala Buni is poised to repositioning the face of the media in the state to meet every global standard it requires.

 

While giving the details of the contract, Hon.Bego informed that the contract  for YBC is the  supply and installation of an on air equipment and acoustic for the burnt studio at the FM station at the cost of N18.3m and N2.9m for the repairs of the burnt down building. Another  contract signed for YBC includes the supply and refurbishing of broadcasting equipment for both AM and FM stations at the cost of  over N39 million.

 

He stated that the signing of the contract is a step towards hooking the state radio to the global Radio Garden to be assessed any where in the world.

“For the YBC this is the initial phase of the digitization process. With this contract, YBC would be able to broadcast 24 hours online as while the station broadcasts during their normal broadcasting hours, for the remainder of the night up to the next day of the transmission, the services of the station will be on a website that will be created available on radio garden.

 

“The next phase for YBC is to ensure that the transmission radius of the station is upgraded so that all parts of the state and even neighboring states can receive the signals of the radio stations,” Hon. Bego said.

 

For the State owned Television, YTV, Hon. Bego disclosed  “this contract involves the purchase of antenna system, installation and repairs of 1032 Feeder Cable at YTV Transmission station at the cost of N28, 140, 000 to Tiggen Tech. Nig. Ltd.

 

Mrs Elizabeth Gotan, Business Development Manager, Elroth Global Resources and Enterprising  on behalf of the contractors praised the governor for the project, stressing that it will open the state to the outside world and make governance easier for the government and her people.

 

She also promised to abide by all contractual agreement and specification including timely delivery of the project.
