Anambra Youth Group Elects New Leaders

Oluchi Eziafakaego-Onyeakusi , newly elected President General, Ebo Youth Movement ( EYM)

A socio- cultural group, Ebo Youth Movement ( EYM ), comprising indigenous youths , home and abroad of Ebo community of Eziama Uli, in Ihiala local government area of Anambra state, has elected new executive members to run the affairs of the organisation. 

 

The election, which took place yesterday at Umuezike Progressive  Primary School  Eziama -Uli , was adjudged to be transparent by all aspirants and other stakeholders.

 

The officers elected were: Oluchi Eziafakaego-Onyeakusi, President General; Celestine Akubumma, Vice President; Ifeanyichukwu Jonathan-Okolie, Secretary;  Chidera Nwaigbo, Assistant Secretary;  Nicholas Onwubuariri, Public Relations Officer; Vincent Ogujuba , Assistant  Public Relations Officer ; Chiedozie Ezenwata , Treasurer;  Asochukwu Okeke, Financial Secretary;  Malachy Olisaemeka, Assistant Financial Secretary.

 

Others elected are : Chijioke Ibe , Provost; Benjamin Ikenso, Assistant Provost; Obiefule Akubumma , Welfare Officer; Onyechefule Adimaonyemma , Assistant Welfare Officer; and Chukwuma Ihezue, Taskforce Chairman. 

 

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected president EYM, Oluchi Eziafakaego-Onyeakusi , thanked all Ebo Youths home and abroad for finding him worthy of mounting the leadership of the prestigious movement. 

 

Onyeakusi used the opportunity to congratulate others who emerged winners in the peacefully conducted election and assured that with collective effort , Ebo community shall be great and worthy of emulation .

 

" With collective efforts of every Ebo youths , more development , peace and security will come to our community.  We shall not let our people down in this onerous task bestowed on us by our people home and abroad. This is a beginning of new dawn for our hometown", Onyeakusi said. 

 

Also speaking, the newly elected secretary of EYM, Ifeanyichukwu Jonathan - Okolie thanked everyone who had contributed in no small way in making the event an epoch one.

 

" We wouldn't have come this far without the efforts and supports of everyone who has reposed faith and trust in this quest. Though, it's a great milestone in the life and history of Ebo youths to have successfully held its first general elections.

 

" We had this victory today but not without the pains and sacrifices on our part especially, with our resolve and commitment to pull through, no matter the odds against us.

 

" To my newly elected officials, I say a big congrats to you all. Like the popular adage, "to whom much is given, same also is much expected from", I admonish us today to see this epoch event as a call to serve. The task ahead will be daunting. It is going to be tough, hard and discouraging, but with every hands on deck, we will soldier on and get to our destination," Okolie said. 

 

In his vote of thanks, the newly elected Financial Secretary of EYM , Asochukwu  Okeke, appreciated all the those who participated in the historic election (first of its kind), which the Ebo youths conducted, saying  that it really showed that unity has returned to Ebo land which will pave way for more progress and security

 

He said:" I aslo want to appreciate the Elders of Ebo land for their support and blessings which contributed to the success of this election. We are looking forward for more of their supports and blessings because together we can make Ebo great."
