Gov. Buni Holds Third Exco Meeting, Approves N9.2 billion for Capital Projects


Yobe State Executive Council today Wednesday approved the sum of over N9.2 billion for the execution of capital projects in the state.

 

The approval is coming at the third Executive meeting of Gov. Mai Mala since his inauguration as governor in May 2019.

 

The Hon. Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Abdullahi Bego announced this at a press briefing in Damaturu said the governor is satisfied with the members of the state executive council and the progress his government is doing in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people despite the hardship caused by the COVID 19 pandemic.

 

While giving details of the approval, Mr.  Bego, disclosed that  part of the money approved was for  the ratification of some ongoing projects as well as some new projects.



He said, “The meeting ratified a total spending of N 8,977,080,926.40 and a new spending of N 232,799,742.50 for various projects. The total sum approved by the council stands at N 9,209,800,668.09

Of this amount, NI, 261,928,090.00 was ratified for the construction of 12 kilometer double coat surface-dressed Damagum-Gubana road in Fune Local Government area; N1, 973,816,010.86 was ratified for the construction of 16 kilometer Nguru-Balanguwa Asphalt road in Nguru Local Government area; N 299,969,086.95 ratified for the reconstruction of damaged areas and structures at the Nguru Irrigation Scheme Phase I in Nguru Local Government area, and N 397,496,102.50 ratified for the construction of 1.5-kilometer road and 3.0 kilometer concrete drain linking Mallummatari-Gujba road dual carriageway, Damaturu.

Other capital expenditure also ratified by the council include the sum of N329, 333,718.57 for the supply of project vehicles, customised tricycle ambulances, customised MAMA kits and bags, HIV rapid test kits, and rehabilitation of midwife quarters at Primary Health Care Center (PHC) Ashekeri in Gaidam Local Government area; N 2,430,063,180.09 ratified for the construction of Gashu'a Modern Market; N 2,360,000,123.72 ratified for the construction of Potiskum Modern Market; and N 1,646,290,624.57 for the construction of link road, additional wearing course and watch tower at the Yobe International Cargo Airport Damaturu,” Bego informed.

 


The
the new approval on the list is  the sum of N 232,799,742.50 for the extension of electricity to Yobe International Cargo Airport, Damaturu, including the rehabilitation of 33KVA ITC Line from Damaturu-Kalallawa and provision of power transformers”.
