The people of Gwer West Local Government are in celebration mood as Gov. Samuel Ortom has elevated Barrister Kenneth Aondohembafan Achabo as his Special Adviser in the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Barrister Achabo’s appointment is coming at the heels of the demises Late Jerome Torshimbe who passed on on the 15/09/2020 occupying the office.
A few days after his burial, Gov. Ortom in his magnanimity decided to retain the office to Gwer West and from Late Torshimbe’s domain with the appointment of the 47 year old Barr. Achabo who was his Principal Special Assistant on Waste Management and Environment.
Following the appointment , the social media went frenzy as youths across the state, Gwer west in particular set the social media ablaze with the smiling photos of Barr. Achabo accompanied with felicitations and good will messages over his new appointment.
Born to the family of Late Chief JK Achabo, an amiable Police Officer, who retired at the rank of a Chief Superintendent Officer but decided to come back to his people and serve as a second class chief for almost two decades before his demise, Barrister Kenneth was already well grounded and groomed for leadership and responsibility from his late father.
As a son of a police officer, he was born in 1973 in Imo state. He had his elementary education in different states in Nigeria.
His eventful secondary education was however at the famous Mount Saint Gabriel College, Makurdi under the tutelage of Late Fr. Angus Frezer, a centre of religious morale and humility which have moulded his life as a humble and simple jolly fellow.
Kenneth proceeded to the Prestigious Ahmedu Bello University where he bagged a degree in Law(LLB) and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2001.
He was in private practice before joining the Abuja Environmental Protection Board, where he rose to the rank of Head of Compliance within a short time.
He voluntarily resigned to go back to private practice in 2008, where he was appointed a Notary Public by the Chief Judge of Nigeria.
He was also appointed a member of the Copyright Arbitration panel by the DG copyright Board in 2015.
Barr Kenneth Achabo came face to face with competitive politics in the 2019 General Elections when he vied for House of Representative to represent Gwer/ Gwer West Federal constituency, but the political intrigues at the moment skimmed him out at the primary stage of the elections.
He was appointed in 2019 by Gov. Ortom to serve as his Principal Special Assistant on Waste Management and Environment.
Hon. Barr. Ken Achabo as he is fondly called by the youth and his friends is widely travelled.
He is married with children with a very deep family value.
