The Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Borno State Chapter has described the recent separate attacks on Borno  State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum's Convoy in Baga as one too many.

Ohanaeze also called on the federal government to bring to an end the over 11 years insurgency ravaging  Borno and other parts of the northeast region.

Speaking yesterday in Maiduguri , Chief Uche-Chris Azubuko , the president of the Igbo apex body in Borno state, said Igbos in the state condemned in totality the serial attacks on the governor's convoy, as well as the lingering Boko Haram crisis.

Azubuko said : "We are extremely disheartened with the repeated and recent attacks aimed at our governor in the cause of fighting the insurgents and resettlement of IDPs to their various communities.

" While we remain grateful to all the security agencies especially those on the front line, we  also want to call on the federal government, relevant security agencies and major stakeholders to intensify better strategies toward ending these incessant attacks on our Governor while taking rounds to all LGAs across the state.

While commiserating with the governor and the families of those affected in the ambush, Azubuko urged the governor not to be deterred on delivering governance.

"The Igbos in Borno  state salute the statesmanship of our governor towards returning the IDPs back to their various communities, despite all odds, and urged the well-meaning citizens of Borno state to remain prayerful, supportive to his Excellency and remain vigilant at this trying period, ", he said.

The convoy of Borno state governor came under heavy ambush by suspected insurgents during which 15 security personnel died.

The governor's convoy was attacked while he was in Baga to supervise the return of IDPs to their ancestral homes, years after they were forced to flee attacks by the armed opposition group, mostly known as "Boko Haram or ISWAP".

Since 2013, when the insurgents began to take over territories in the northeast of Nigerian, over 3 million people, mostly women and children were displaced from about 21 local government areas of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states.
