Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has approved the constitution of a nine-man Management Committee for Yobe Desert Football Club.
The football club, owned by the State Government for the first time in 2017/2018 football season gained promotion to the Premier League but got relegated the following year and is currently flying its trade in the Nigerian National League(NNL)in the country.
IMPACTONLINENIGERIA gathered that the new management is expected to restore the team back to the country’s Premier League.
According to the Statement signed by Mr. Buni’s spokesman, Mamman Mohammed, the State Government with Blue Wall Football Club signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) expected to change the fortunes of the club.
The New Management according to the Statement has the Director of Sports in the State Mr. Habu Ago as the Acting Chairman, Divine Benjamin Ogbonaya as the General Manager, with Kwaghzever Terfa Moris as the Team Coordinator.
The Statement emphasised that the operation and running of the club henceforth will be bounded by the terms enshrined in the agreement in the MoU.
The Statement reads in part; “His Excellency the Executive Governor of Yobe state, Mai Mala Buni CON, has approved a nine-man management Committee for Yobe Desert stars, the state-owned football club.
“This followed the Memorandum Of Understanding signed between the state government and Blue Wall football club to promote the prosperity of the club.
“The new management has Dr. Habu Abdulrahman Ago (FIFA) as the Acting Chairman, Divine Benjamin Ogbonaya General Manager, Musa Mohammed Jankoli- Team Manager, included “Barrister M B Yusuf- Legal Adviser, Kwaghzever Terfa Morris- Team Coordinator, Hassan Dauda-Referees Coordinator, Ahmed Babi-Secretary/ TMS Officer, Obi Ifeanyi Chuku Emmanuel - Media Officer and Audu Ibrahim Masaya- Accountant.
“Similarly, the Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Youth, Sports and Social Development is to serve as Grand Patron, while the Chairman House Committee on Sports, Special Adviser to His Excellency on sports and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Social Development are to serve as Patrons.
“The operation and running of the club shall be bounded by the agreement signed in the MOU by the two parties,” the statement reads.
